Perdita Butler, Urban Agriculturalist & Founding Farmer
Growing With Purpose
Perdita Butler is a seasoned urban agriculturalist and farmer, experienced in nonprofit and community farm settings, advocate for food access and equity. She owns her own urban farm business, Quarter Acre and a Mule—quickly becoming an influential figure in local food initiatives.
Butler holds degrees in geology, biology, and secondary education, along with certification in agroecology systems, providing a strong foundation for her practical and educational approach to farming. Her work is characterized by a deep understanding of food systems and a commitment to ensuring all people have access to high-quality, nutritious food, which she often refers to as “medicine.”
Her diversified experience has included:
- Education coordinator for New Farmers (which transitioned Ethiopian immigrant farmers into farming in WA),
- Director of Sustainable Lands Community Garden Program,
- Program Director and Farmer at Powderhorn Youth Farm—a nonprofit focused on food justice,
- CSA farmer and community outreach coordinator for AfroEco in St. Paul, MN (NCR-SARE Grant Recipient),
- Farmed with Frontline Farms in Denver—a nonprofit farm focused on food justice and advocacy.
- Volunteers with the Pueblo Food Project
You can find Perdita all over Southern Colorado, at the Farmers Markets, Farm Stands, as well as speaking at: gardening, growing and agricultural conferences and teaching classes and workshops!
